Chiang Mai - Lamphun Golf Club Back 9
by Smith Sukapanpotharam

HOLE 10
PAR 4 HS. 18
373 366 339 304 yards

The start of Thailand's "Amen Corner". Water and trees right, and a huge bunker left gradually converge, penalising the longer driver. Settle for a short straight one, followed by a middle iron towards the right side of well bunkered gree. Beware a creek along the left.

HOLE 11
PAR 4 HS. 8
215 210 194 154 yards

The longest par three, with water in front. Lay up if you cannot carry 190 yards comfortably. Large sloping green guarded by a bunker left and a huge bunker right.

HOLE 12
PAR 4 HS. 4
377 372 328 302 yards

Beware of this beautiful tricky hole. It could be a birdy or double bogey. There is an hidden lake protruding into the fairway on the left. A good long drive to the left of right bunker will leave only a short iron for second shot. The creek that crosses the fairway continues unseen behind the bunkers. Small and very severely sloping green is well guarded by a deep bunker, and right and back bunkers. There is also a small creek on
the left of the green.

HOLE 13
PAR 5 HS. 10
590 579 544 489 yards

This longest par five is a sweeping dogleg right and water left. A little fade drive is preferable. Your second shot should be short of a big leftside bunker, 150 yards short of the green. Third shot should be played right side of the sloping green, which is bunkered back and both sides.

HOLE 14
PAR 4 HS. 6
407 386 362 314 yards

Dogleg left with O.B. on the left. Keep to the left side of the sloping fairway - there is a creek on the right. A very long drive to the right may disappear into a series of pot bunkers similar to those of St. Andrew's. Keep left of the pin on a long sloping kidney shaped green.

HOLE 15
PAR 3 HS. 12
177 168 160 128 yards

This pretty "Rose Hole" surrounded by roses with two - tiered lake. The uphill shot needs height to land on the raised green bunkered front right and left. Place the ball on right side of the pin for this sloping green.

HOLE 16
PAR 4 HS. 16
393 384 360 328 yards

Straight medium-length par four with narrow fairway. The pond and O.B. left, and bunkers right are in - play for the tee shot. Place your drive on the left side of the fairway for clear approach. The green is very long and narrow so that the pin position can after club selection by up to three clubs. Beware of bunkers left and right,
and creek right.

HOLE 17
PAR 4 HS. 2
422 400 369 330 yards

After major course remodeling in 2000, the 17 is currently one of the more difficulty par four. A little fade shot will clear the O.B. left and large bunker right. Short or middle iron is needed for approach shot over the water and surrounded bunkers. Take one more club than you think for this elevated green. You may need a high shot over the large rain tree left.

HOLE 18
PAR 5 HS. 14
549 532 503 463 yards

This vulnerable finishing hole can make you win or lose. Tight fairway with trees in the center and both sides, and O.B. left. Precision is needed on all shots. The humped small green is long and narrow guarded with bunkers on both sides and back. Beware the unseenlake on the right side of the green.
