Is a rustic riverfront restaurant that is not far from the Ratilanna hotel, being a Chiang Mai institution offering a selection of Thai and Local cuisine. The food is not really the best, in town but the decor and location more than makes up for it.
The owner seems to be in the tour business as has the old tour restaurant trick, where the bucket of ice is always pushed and over priced and if humanly possible they will sell you two. But as prices are fair please overlook that. Also they do offer normally nice young whole coconuts to drink.
I personally take guests from Bangkok or overseas there as the food is far better than say the Gallery restaurant but the teak wood building of the Tha-Nam Restaurant is more traditional Thai than the gallery bilding which is a Chinese design.
I do not recommend for groups of 50 people, as the Kitchen is not prepared (even if you pre book) but for groups up to 15 or so is fine. They seem to handle that better.
